Over the past 2 years my interest in photography has grown. Some of you might have noticed. I decided it was time for a new blog design that would put more emphasis on imagery. Especially since I’m such a visual person. Lately I’ve been really interested in old photos. Taking and making photos that look as if they are from my childhood or even younger. Perhaps it’s my longing for my youth, or an interest in photos that aren’t so incredibly clear and sharp, as I’ve come to expect from my current camera, but I’m really digging this new app for my iphone called Hipstamatic. It’s fun!
It allows you to pick and choose a wide assortment of digital lenses, films and flash combinations from the old toy and low quality Holga, Diana and Lomo cameras. The look is unmistakable and virtually any image taken with these cameras or a fairly close facsimile thereof seem to instantly produce warm fuzzy feelings in me when I see them. Suddenly, I am 10 years old again and swinging off of a rope into the Parshallville pond.
